AccountantsWorld and Payroll Relief, Explained for Accountants, Employers and Employees

AccountantsWorld is a cloud-software business built around professional accounting firms, and Payroll Relief is its live payroll-processing platform for accountants and payroll providers. IRIS Software Group acquired AccountantsWorld in December 2021. Today the AccountantsWorld website remains active, IRIS still lists an AccountantsWorld Payroll Relief login, and IRIS’s company directory describes AccountantsWorld as part of its current U.S. payroll portfolio.

That combination explains why current users may encounter both AccountantsWorld and IRIS while working with the same product. The marketing site may still say AccountantsWorld and Payroll Relief, while documentation and support increasingly live inside the IRIS Global environment.

[PUBLICATION NAME] is an independent editorial publication. We do not operate AccountantsWorld, Payroll Relief or IRIS Payroll and cannot access employer or employee payroll accounts.

Start With AccountantsWorld

Our AccountantsWorld overview explains the company, its relationship with IRIS and how Payroll Relief fits beside Accounting Power, Cloud Cabinet, Practice Relief and After-the-Fact Payroll.

AccountantsWorld’s current site remains centered on two major professional services: Accounting Power for accounting and Client Accounting Services, and Payroll Relief for accounting firms running payroll services for employer clients. The wider Power Practice Suite connects accounting, payroll-compliance, document and practice-management workflows.

Payroll Relief Is Built for Accounting Firms

Payroll Relief is not primarily an employee pay-stub app. Its central user is the accounting or payroll firm managing payroll for multiple employer clients.

Current AccountantsWorld documentation describes exception-based payroll entry, batch processing, federal and state compliance, direct deposit, electronic tax payments and filings, contractor payroll, employee portals, year-end W-2 and 1099 processing, reporting and integrations with other accounting systems. AccountantsWorld says the platform can process payrolls for companies with up to 1,000 employees.

Firm, Employer and Employee Access Are Different

One of the biggest sources of confusion around Payroll Relief is access.

An accounting-firm user may administer many employer accounts. An employer may be given limited permissions to enter or review certain information. An employee or contractor may receive a separate self-service experience focused on their own profile and payroll documents.

IRIS’s current login directory specifically lists AccountantsWorld Payroll Relief as cloud software for accountants, while Payroll Relief itself supports configurable user roles and employee self-service.

Our Payroll Relief access guide explains those roles without creating separate pages for every login, sign in and employee portal keyword variation.

Employee Self-Service

Payroll Relief includes a secure employee portal for payroll-document access, and AccountantsWorld also offers a more extensive Employee Self Service module.

Current product materials say workers can access items such as pay statements, W-2s and 1099s through the employee portal. The expanded ESS offering digitizes onboarding, training and employee-data management.

Payroll Relief’s employee experience continued to expand in 2026. A July update added integration with ZayZoon Earned Wage Access, with employee access points appearing inside ESS according to the employer’s ESS configuration and ZayZoon registration status.

Direct Deposit and Electronic Payroll Services

Payroll Relief’s e-services cover much more than printing paychecks.

IRIS currently documents direct deposit, federal and state tax payments, electronic filing, child-support payments and payroll-processing charges as supported electronic-service workflows. The accounting firm acts as the payroll-processing provider and reporting agent for participating employers, while AccountantsWorld provides the electronic-funds service layer.

Electronic services require setup and authorization. An employer’s bank information must be validated and an EFT application completed before direct deposit and related electronic payments can be activated.

Our Payroll Relief direct deposit and e-services guide explains the difference between employer funding, employee bank instructions and payroll-tax payments.

Running a Payroll

Payroll Relief supports several payroll-entry methods.

The current IRIS help system describes a spreadsheet-like Worksheet for entering many employees, a Paychecks view for individual entries and an Upload workflow for Excel data. AccountantsWorld also emphasizes exception-based entry, allowing recurring payrolls to focus on values that changed rather than requiring every normal amount to be re-entered.

For firms handling many client payrolls, batch approval and other centralized workflows become especially important.

Integrations With Accounting and Timekeeping

Payroll data rarely stays inside payroll software.

AccountantsWorld currently documents integrations with Accounting Power, QuickBooks, CS Accounting, Peachtree, Cloud Cabinet, Practice Relief, SwipeClock, workers’ compensation services and retirement administration.

The SwipeClock integration can import employee hours into Payroll Relief, while PayrollLink can transfer aggregate payroll journal entries into desktop QuickBooks. Cloud Cabinet handles document archival, and Practice Relief can connect payroll activity with accounting-firm tasks and billing.

Our Payroll Relief integrations guide separates those workflows.

W-2s, 1099s and Historical Forms

Year-end payroll has its own operational requirements.

Payroll Relief currently supports W-2 and 1099 processing alongside electronic compliance tools. IRIS published updated guidance in July 2026 stating that W-2s and other tax forms are retained inside Payroll Relief for up to four years from the current year; forms outside that retention window must be obtained from the appropriate tax agency.

Our Payroll Relief W-2 and 1099 guide covers document access, filing and year-end distinctions.

Payroll Relief Is Still Actively Changing

Payroll Relief’s current IRIS help center was updated in 2026 with ongoing product releases. June changes introduced the IRIS Agent support assistant and new payroll functionality related to qualified tips, qualified overtime and Trump Accounts, while July added ZayZoon Earned Wage Access.

That active development is why this publication prioritizes current first-party documentation over old screenshots or legacy AccountantsWorld tutorials.
